New Horizons
Community Service Board
Child &
Adolescent Services
A critical element of services to all consumers,
but especially children and youth, is the
consumers' natural environment. For this
specific population, effective treatment must
include a sense of several key elements: the
family system, the consumers' interaction with
their environment, the supports and stressors in
the environment, and the ability to interact
with the people and elements in their
surroundings. Therefore, services to children
and adolescents may be offered beyond the clinic
setting and in the places that are familiar to
the consumer.
